In the field of recombinant protein production, large and structurally complex proteins often present a significant challenge. The cloning, amplification, validation, and transfer steps between different host systems can considerably slow down research and development projects.
At ProteoY, our mission is to simplify and accelerate this process.
Today, we are announcing a new demonstration of the capabilities of our proprietary yeast-based protein expression platform. In just seven days, our technology enabled the generation of a clone expressing a complex eukaryotic protein of approximately 280 kDa, known as GAC (Glideosome-Associated Connector).
The GAC protein is involved in the motility and cell invasion mechanisms of certain parasites. Due to its large size and structural complexity, it serves as an excellent model for evaluating the performance of recombinant expression platforms.
One of the most remarkable aspects of this demonstration is that the entire process was completed without relying on the traditional cloning and amplification steps in E. coli. Thanks to ProteoY's innovative approach, it was possible to move directly from a DNA sequence to a yeast clone expressing the target protein.
This achievement confirms several strategic advantages of our platform:
- Rapid generation of production clones directly from a DNA sequence;
- Significant reduction in development timelines;
- Simplification of molecular biology workflows;
- Ability to support the expression of complex eukaryotic proteins;
- Scalability potential for both research and industrial biotechnology applications.
This milestone further strengthens the results already achieved with our technology in collaboration with research institutions and academic partners. It demonstrates ProteoY's ability to meet the growing demand for rapid recombinant protein production, whether for fundamental research, enzyme development, industrial bioproduction, or future therapeutic applications.
